Where to begin from for Kodachadri trek?

The journey begins from Bangalore to the starting point of this trek which is Shimoga a district at the foothills Kodachadri peak. The best-suited route to be undertaken from Bangalore is AH 47 the Bangalore-Pune highway. The two most popularly undertaken routes to Kodachadri peak are Kattinahole or Valur.

Kattinahole route: This route takes you to Kodachadri peak via Hindlumane falls. The distance from Hindlumane falls to this peak is 10 kilometers and can be covered in 4-5 hours precisely.

Valur route: A small cottage namely Santosh Hotel can be the starting point. The distance from here is 10 kilometers again and the trails are mucky. This time the distance might take 5-7 hours to be covered.

The Kodachadri trek is a delightful place for someone who is looking forward to dedicating some time to nature and wildlife. The trek is beautiful as the trails take you through the dense rainforest which is home to numerous endangered species of flora and fauna. The roads of this trek a poorly developed because of their complicated location but they are fit for a vehicle like a jeep. The exclusive location of this trek makes it all worth for a trekker. This trek will leave you mesmerized during the hike due to the presence of jasmine flowers, which are the epitome of the trek. The aromatic aura and biodiversity leave you stunned. The slopes while climbing the hill are steep at times and dangerous but the overall trek is moderate.

The views from the top of Kodachadri peak are marvelous. The grandeur of the Arabian Sea and Sharavati backwaters from the top gives you a sense of accomplishment and tranquility.

Places to stay during Kodachadri Trek

The Kodachadri peak has been declared by the government of Karnataka as a Natural Heritage Site and therefore camping is prohibited here due to the presence of wild animals and other dangers. Camping can only be done near PwD house. However, there are many places where you can plan your stay during the trek. Network Availability

The network connectivity is not good and there are very fewer service providers. Airtel and BSNL might pop up but very less often. Therefore, it is advisable to keep your relatives informed and make important calls when you have the network.

Things to do in Kodachadri:

1). Absorb the spiritual vibes of Mookambika Devi temple which is 12 kilometers away from Kodachadri.This place holds great mythological significance.

2). Visit the Nagara fort and backwaters of Linganamakki Dam which is 25 kilometers away from Kodachadri.

3). Behold the panoramic view from Chitramoola caves from where the temple of Mookambika Devi is prominently visible.

4). Meditate by grasping the tranquil vibes during the sunset from the Kodachadri peak.
