Clothes for trip to North Sikkim

In North Sikkim the altitude changes drastically from 9,000 feet to 17,000 feet and so, does the weather changes here. It gets quite cold and windy at high altitudes. Do carry woolens in all seasons along with cap and gloves.

Clothes: For the lower altitudes-light sweater, tee- shirts etc. For the higher altitudes – jacket with woollen lining, monkey cap, mufflers, wind-cheaters, long-johns, woollen socks and gloves should be carried.

Points to Remember

  1. There are high chances of Altitude Mountain Sickness in North Sikkim. So, do carry Diamox and camphor to protect it.
  2. Also the people with ailments like Heart diseases, high Blood pressure, need to have a doctor recommendation for visit Gurudongmar Please do respect that. It’s for your safety and well-being.
  3. There are almost no roads in North Sikkim but the journey is a lifetime experience.
  4. Plastic is banned in North Sikkim.
